Central Library

A CENTRAL LIBRARY is the primary hub of information and knowledge resources in an institution, city, or university. It serves as the main repository of books, digital resources, research materials, and academic references, catering to students, faculty, and researchers.


Introduction

The MRR Government College Library was established in the post-COVID era, around 2020, to enhance academic resources and support student learning. As part of the institution’s commitment to quality education, the government appointed guest faculty for NAAC accreditation purposes. The library is affiliated with Vikrama Simhapuri University and serves as a knowledge hub, providing access to a wide range of books, research materials, and digital resources to support students and faculty in their academic pursuits.


Collections & Resources

The MRR Government College Library offers a diverse range of academic and competitive exam resources to support students and faculty.

  • The library has a collection of over 5,100 books covering various subjects.

  • Digital access is available through NLIST and ONOS for e-books and journals.
  • A dedicated section is available for competitive and entrance exams, including UPSC, APPSC, SSC, banking, and other exams.

The library ensures that students and researchers have access to essential learning materials in both print and digital formats.

Facilities & Policies

  • The library has a reading room with a seating capacity of 10 to 15 members.
  • A study space of 1.5 x 3 meters is available for individual and group learning.
  • Borrowing and Membership: Books can be borrowed for a maximum period of 14 days.

The library aims to provide a comfortable and resourceful environment for students and faculty to enhance their learning experience.

Library Rules & Policies

  1. Library Usage
    • Silence must be maintained inside the library.
    • Mobile phones should be on silent mode.
    • Eating and drinking are not allowed in the library.
  2. Borrowing & Membership
    • Only registered members can borrow books.
    • Books can be issued for 14 days and must be returned on time.
    • A fine may be charged for overdue books.
  3. Handling of Books & Resources
    • Books and materials should be handled with care.
    • Any damage or loss of books must be reported immediately.
    • Users are responsible for the books they borrow.
  4. Digital Access
    • NLIST and ONOS access is available for e-books and journals.
    • Online resources should be used for academic purposes only.

Events & Programs

  • Book Fairs and Library Week Celebrations The library organizes book fairs and special events during Library Week to promote reading culture and awareness of academic resources. 
  • Library Orientation New students are given an orientation session to familiarize them with library resources, borrowing procedures, and digital access. 
  • Virtual Support The library provides online guidance and virtual support to students on accessing e-books, journals, and research materials for academic success.
